Poetry

Away

I wake up in my van
Wear my shoes if I have to
Look through my small window
Breathe the fresh air and wonder

Wonder where am I going next
Could be Italy or even Hawaii
Should I settle and study? Or
Get married and have a baby?

These thoughts come and go
As the ocean in front of me
The waves whisper to my ears
And the solution appears

Why am I letting
Society control my thoughts
When the main reason I left
Was to be free?

It’s been three years
Since I left my home country
Along with my obligations
The memories of my passed family

While laying on the beach
With warm golden sand on my feet
I put on my shoes
And drive away to Fiji
